Cine 300 Basice of Motion Picture production

Contents : Main departments in film production – planning the production - preparations for the production- shooting stage – post  production stage – the artistic process of the film – schedules and other forms used in the production – the role of each of the artistic departments during the three stages of the production – finance – Distributing  

 

Cine 301 Basics of screenwriting

Contents : Understanding the word “Drama” – How the dramatic situation is developed – struggle – personality – the plot – wags of writing a script – sonrses of cinematic stories – treatment – the film script practical training .

Cine 302 The history and development of cinema

Contents: Introduction to the topic – selection – Juxtapositen – elements of transition – training – timing – pacing – rhythm – practical training .

Cine 306 Make – up for filming      

Contents: What is make – up ? historical introduction – developing of make up  in films – the difference between make – up in every day life and film’s make – up the role of make – up in supporting the dramatic effect of the character – normal make – up in films – special effects in make – up : scince fiction finlms – transforming the character from young to old and vice- versa – disguise – burnings – accidents - wounds ……..

Cine 307 Basics of cinema photography

Contents: Technique of cinematography: Introduction to : cinematography - the camera – different equipment used in shooting film – practical training – film lighting : introduction to lighting equipments and materials – the use and the effect of each of them – practical training – composition : introduction – basic aspects – composition in cinematography -  practical training .

Cine 308 Film theory                                         

Contents: Main principles of film theory – major film  schools : school of action – Editing school – school of signs - aesthetics of the expressionistic school – aesthetics of the realistic school – aesthetics of the school of the new wave - the anther’s cinema – trends of criticism in the international cinema - main currents in Egyptian cinema film and the community

Cine 309 Cinema and the Global Market  

Contents: The major studies – the way the majors oprates ,financing and distributing films by the majors independent production companies-  independent  distributors– foreign distribution for the American film- foreign distribution for the Egyptian  film – the effects of the new T.V windows on the  films – industry finance and production .

Cine 310 Documentary film – Style Production

Contents: What is the documentary film ? – the importance of the documentary film – the difference between the production of the documentary film and narrative film – methods of directing  and photographing the documentary film – tools used by the directors (real characters – real places – music - commentary–dialogue…) types of the documentary film: cultural films – guiding films – social films – educational films – scientific films – tourism films – artistic films – sports films – children films – news films .

Cine 311 Production Design  

Contents: Composition of scene and out direction: the difference between art direction and designing – schools of art direction plan of script story board design movement and space in the scene – set color plan personals color plan (personal custom -  accessories props) art direction of special effects – scene processing with applicant programs practical training.

Cine 312 Film Production Management          

Contents: The production crew : the producer the executive producer – the production manager – the production assistants – the role of the executive producer and the production manager in different film stages – the production crew and other film crews – the importance of the relationships between the production manager and the director’s first assistant analyzing the budget – documents and contracts used in the film production – financing and distributing the film practical training .

Cine 312 Music of films

Contents: Music associated with the character – music associated to the Situation – the role of music to prepare for to the incident – mood music – realistic music – the musical film – various examples.

Cine 314 Set Design

Contents: The difference between cinema design and theatre design, set design and scene design – the design process – perspective drawing – drawing a floor plan of a set style, composition and design – colors- scenic design – tools and materials – scenic production techniques.

Cine 315 Internship

Contents: students are divided into groups that represent differents brunches in the production of a film. Student will prepare and shoot a short film under guidance of specialized professors .

1- Electing one of the courses (s) he has not studied before in the ' Elective A ' group .

2- Electing 8 out 13 courses from the following ' Elective B ' group .

3- Electing 3 courses from one frome one of the four specialisations provided that (s) he successfully pass the Introduction Course qualifying for joining the specialisation.

Cine 400 Lighting and cinematography

Contents: The camera and the way it operates – the difference between the film camera and TV camera – Lenses and there effects – shot size relating to the focal depth of the lenses – Raw films used in cinema: structure – types – sensitivity – color temperature – lighting: lighting aspects- Exposure meters - artificial light and daylight (the difference between them) – technical and artistic  aspects of lighting – kinds of lighting: source- main – fill light – back light ……  light filters .light and shadows .

Cine 401 Film Workshop

Contents: Students are divided into groups each group is supervised by a professor and 2 teaching assistants Each group introduces and idea which is developed to a script. Then the students shoot it under the guidance and supervision of the supervising staff.

Cine 402 Film Directing ( 2)

Contents: Planning the movement : actors and camera – fundamentals of composition in the cinematic frame: traditional basics – centre of attention – Balance – Superiority – similarity – the director and the sound track: silence – dialogue – music – effects . Aesthetics of the frame – visual transition – dramatic lighting – practical training .

Cine 403 Digital Audio Post Production 

 

Contents: What is “audio post- production- illustrating the digital system- practical training using the new technology in sound Editing- the transformation from the analogue system to the digital system .

Cine 404 Telecine and color

Contents: Basics of film laboratory –  methods  of colour correction – transformation from film to video – correction during transformation form the negative – co lour  correction during copying from the final print .

Cine 405 Film analysis and criticism 

Contents: Different critical schools in filmmaking – different film genre – famous directors and there works that shows their ways of expressing their excellence – viewing films that represents different artistic schools and analyzing it according to: the script – Directing – cinematography set. designing – Music ….. emphasizing an the artistic and dramatic aspects – the master scene of the film is analyzed shot by shot .

Cine 406 Graduation Project

Contents: Forth year students are divided into groups. Each group consists of: script writer – director – cinematographer  Production manager _ Editor – Sound engineer. Groups are supervised by staff of professors starting from planning the production till the production is finished After all films are finished and ready, they will be viewed by a committee of professors .

Cine 407 Independent studies in cinema    
Contents: The student choses a subject which discuses one of the activities in the film industry. The student will write a paper discussing the subject of his interest not less than 25 pages, under the guidance and supervision of a professor .
Cine 408 Animation             

Contents: Story – story board – layout – character design– animation 2D and 3D– visual effects– computer soft-wore .

Cine 409 Drama production  

Contents: How to deal with a  script – types of film script – developing the literary property to a script from the director’s point of view – script canalizing constructing the dramatic personality -  ways of telling the story – practical training .

Cine 410 Film post Production  

Contents: Choosing the elements of the sound track- the effect of the film genre on the elements of the sound track- the final print mixing – old and new ways in editing – negative editing – standard print .

Cine 411 Film Restoration  

Contents: Different sizes of films and the differences – Ways to overcome the defects in the film’s negative and the loss of frames – ways to restore the original negative and making a new negative- best ways to store films.

Cine 412 Digital Editing 

Contents: Processing the film- collecting the negative- Telecine: transforming the negative into vides tape- steps of digital sound – editing stage- sound mixing stage – cutting the negative- printing the standard print .

Cine 413 Modern trends in Motion Pictures

Contents: New currents in the Contemporary cinema – makers in contemporary cinema- similarity and differences in different film elements .

Cine 414 Science fiction and fantasy films

Contents: Metaphysics – elements of effects in science   fiction films – techniques used in science fiction films- historical developing of fantasy and science fiction films – viewing variety of films represents all scools .
